"Clarinet Quartet in One Movement" is an older piece written which deserved a shot at being revised, engraved, and potentially performed. It was one of the first projects created in Evan's compositional catalogue that shined, and was finally completed for his university's clarinet studio in August of 2021.
The piece explores many timbres based off of a repeating hemiola rhythm. It is often a challenge for the range of the clarinets, but the bright and piercing textures create a special color to bring life to a performance hall.
